The Role
As an Inventory Operator, you will be responsible for accurate processing of inbound parts deliveries for parts, materials and consumables to support the processing repairs by the operations team. Ensuring the accuracy, availability, and traceability of all stock within the parts room and storage systems. You will manage the flow of inventory in and out of storage locations using advanced warehouse management software and established checking processes ensuring that stock movements are accurately recorded and aligned with business needs. Your primary focus will be on maintaining optimal flow of inventory to support repairs, conducting audits, preparing parts for returns to OEM's and resolving discrepancies to support seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Key Job Responsibilities
Accurately receive, log, and store incoming stock, verifying against purchase orders and updating the warehouse management system accordingly.
Perform routine and ad hoc stock checks to maintain inventory accuracy and reduce discrepancies.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure stock availability and highlight potential shortages or overstock risks.
Transact stock movements in real-time using handheld devices and inventory systems to maintain accurate data.
Identify and investigate inventory discrepancies, damaged stock, or misplaced items, escalating unresolved issues to management.
Ensure all inventory is properly labelled and stored according to standard operating procedures, including rotation of stock to meet FIFO or other requirements.
Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in full stock audits as part of continuous improvement and compliance.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. operations, logistics, quality and materials) to coordinate material flow and ensure inventory aligns with operational needs.
Maintain detailed inventory records and generate inventory performance reports using tools such as Excel and WMS.
Assist with inventory-related documentation, ensuring accurate and timely completion of required forms and system entries.
Candidate Profile/Qualifications
Prior experience in inventory control is essential with warehouse operations, or stock auditing preferred.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Experience of SAP, GSX and GSPN will be advantageous.
Basic understanding of inventory planning and supply chain principles.
Knowledge of stock rotation and auditing practices.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and stock handling.
Excellent organisational and analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns in inventory movements.
Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and solve problems under time pressure.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal departments.
Proficient in using inventory systems and spreadsheets to track and manage stock.
Physically fit and able to manage manual handling requirements of the role.
