Your Role:
The
Investigations Editor
will be the driving force behind our long-form investigations, producing impactful, agenda-setting journalism. From in-depth features that expose wrongdoing to complex stories that hold power to account, your work will be central to our commitment to public interest reporting and will keep our huge audience on the edge of their seats.
Your work will appeal to both The Sun's print audience, our loyal co.uk readers and paying Sun Club members.
Based in our London newsroom, you're a seasoned journalist with a talent for digging into complex topics and finding the hidden truths. You thrive on the challenge of long-term projects, piecing together information from multiple sources to build a compelling narrative. You will not only be the lead on major investigations but also a mentor and leader for a team of talented reporters.

Your normal core working hours will be 40 hours per week within the operating hours/days as advised by your line manager. As per the News UK flexible working policy, this role is required to work from our London Bridge office for a minimum of 3 days a week. Any part-time working requests will be considered on an individual basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Spearhead high-impact, long-form investigations from conception to publication, ensuring they are thoroughly researched, legally sound, and compellingly written
Writing for content across Club, appearing in video, online and paper.
Pitch and execute ambitious investigative projects that address critical issues, generate public conversation, and cement our reputation for fearless journalism.
Turnaround projects to a tight deadline.
Utilise your network and investigative skills to uncover exclusive information, secure key documents, and cultivate sources to break major stories.
Craft narratives that are both meticulously detailed and engaging for a wide audience, adapting your style to fit everything from an immersive digital feature to a concise print summary and for Club where appropriate
Maintain the highest standards of journalistic ethics and accuracy, working closely with legal and editorial teams to ensure the integrity of all published work.
Act as a senior figure within the newsroom, providing guidance, training, and support to junior reporters on investigative techniques, source development, and long-form storytelling.
Key Qualifications/Skills:
Extensive experience as a senior investigations writer or editor at a national news organisation or major digital outlet.
An outstanding portfolio of published investigative work that demonstrates a proven ability to break significant stories and hold powerful institutions to account.
A track record of using a wide range of investigative tools, from data analysis and public records requests to on-the-ground reporting and source cultivation.
A deep understanding of media law, libel, and journalistic ethics.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing complex projects with long timelines and tight deadlines.
A relentless drive to uncover the truth and a passion for public interest journalism.
