The Investment Operations Analyst plays a key role within the Investment Operations team, which provides essential support to the Investment function. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of investment activities and maintaining the integrity of investment data and operational workflows.


The role involves daily interaction and collaboration with internal teams across the firm including Compliance, Finance, and the Investment teams, as well as with key external partners such as the outsourced back-office provider, fund accountant, custodian, and technology vendors. The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, support the implementation of investment strategies, and help ensure regulatory and procedural compliance in line with best practice and LGPS Central's commitment to excellence in asset management.

As a Investment Operations Analyst, here is a flavour of what you'll get involved in:

Operational Support: Provide timely and accurate operational support to fund managers and the wider Investment team, ensuring investment decisions are effectively implemented and aligned with operational capabilities. Oversight of Outsourced Providers: Monitor and manage the performance of outsourced back-office service providers, ensuring all daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables meet contractual obligations, KPIs, and service-level agreements. Escalate any performance issues or breaches to senior management as appropriate. Reconciliations and Exception Management: Perform daily reconciliations of cash and stock positions, identifying and investigating breaks, and ensuring prompt resolution in coordination with custodians, administrators, and internal teams. Corporate Actions: Oversee the end-to-end processing and monitoring of corporate actions, including notifications, entitlement verification, instruction, and settlement, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Fund Transactions: Process and record fund subscriptions, redemptions, and transitions accurately, liaising with fund administrators, investment managers, and custodians to ensure settlement and allocation of units. Reporting and Data Integrity: Support the production of accurate and timely investment operations data for internal reporting, Board packs, regulatory submissions, and client communications. Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting cycles, ensuring data consistency and completeness. New Fund Launches and Market Openings: Participate in the operational set-up of new funds and strategies, supporting onboarding activities, account openings, workflow design, and testing. Collaborate with compliance, legal, and external parties to ensure readiness for launch. Process and Controls Improvement: Continuously review and enhance operational processes, controls, and procedures to support risk mitigation, improve efficiency, and adapt to evolving business needs. Maintain up-to-date documentation of processes and participate in system enhancement initiatives. Technology and Systems: Support the utilisation and ongoing improvement of core investment systems and data tools. Provide user input into testing and implementation of system upgrades or new solutions. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all operational activity complies with internal control frameworks, regulatory requirements (e.g. FCA, MiFID II), and external assurance standards, including adherence to AAF principles. Collaboration and Communication: Develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure efficient issue resolution and support strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Industry background: Middle office or investment operations experience within asset management or investment banking is preferred. Investment asset background: Previous experience of supporting either Equity, Fixed Income or Derivatives is required. Experience of supporting Private Equity/Debt/Infrastructure or Property is desirable. Systems: Familiarity with Bloomberg AIM, Aladdin, or similar OMS/MO systems. Strong Excel skills required. Regulatory awareness: Understanding of key UK financial regulations (e.g. FCA, MiFID II) and AAF reporting standards. Detail-oriented: Sharp eye for detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Communication: Clear, confident communicator-comfortable working across teams and with external stakeholders. Organised: Able to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines. Client-focused: Proven track record of delivering excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Operations Management or related field
