What the job involves:

• Leading and supervising up to 5 Facilities Assistants during weekend shifts, including workload allocation, training, absence management, and team motivation
• Managing daily operations and ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for the Main Library's 24/7 user community
• Performing regular patrols of the building, liaising with maintenance and security teams to resolve incidents and maintenance needs
• Acting as the first point of contact for all building faults, repairs, accidents, or incidents; managing master keys and fire coordination duties
• Planning and organising resources, rotas, and logistical movements with a focus on health and safety and operational efficiency

A bit about you:
Essential Criteria:

• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team in a customer-focused environment
• Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety practices and security in large public buildings
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a positive, proactive attitude
• Competence in Microsoft Office and manual handling skills
• Ideally, experience in facilities supervision or a similar operational role, preferably within a library or academic environment

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience of building security and safety procedures
• Relevant Health and Safety qualification (IOSH) is desirable but not essential
