IT and Digital Business Partner Job description
Full Time, Permanent
Bristol City Council is recognised as a leading and progressive adopter of digital services. Our Digital Strategy focuses on delivering better, cheaper, and faster services that improve digital equity and are built from a user-centred perspective. We are focused on improving services for our residents and making Bristol truly digital.
We have exciting and challenging work ahead. We are completing an 18m multi-year Digital Transformation Programme in 2024, securing a firm technological foundation on which to develop improved digital services. We have major ambitions to help transform services across the council and to participate in large regional partnerships across sectors. We are recruiting people-focused digital, data, design, and technology professionals to join our team.
The Role
The IT and Digital Business Partner is a senior subject-matter expert and trusted advisor on all elements of IT & Digital. You will manage relationships between the council's technical teams and its service departments, working strategically to deliver outcomes that meet business needs.
As a key senior point of contact, you will advise on technology, governance, and solutions to senior officers and Members. This role sits at the heart of our digital transformation function and reports to the Head of Digital Strategy and Transformation.
You will act as the main link between council services and IT & Digital, champion user-centred solutions, support delivery of the Digital Strategy, and ensure our teams deliver maximum value.
What We're Looking For
We want to hear from people who can build strong stakeholder relationships, evaluate and manage IT & Digital solutions, champion modern technologies, and scan trends to recommend improvements. You should be confident in collaborating across teams, managing budgets and risks, and supporting continuous improvement and professional development.
About You
You are curious and proactive in keeping your skills up to date, with a strong commitment to user-centred practices, ideally within Agile delivery. You can simplify complex technical concepts, work inclusively and collaboratively across departments, and take ownership of challenges to deliver practical solutions. Above all, you are driven to improve citizens' lives and foster respectful, fair relationships.
These values are fundamental to us, as is building an environment that promotes knowledge, empathy, equity, and skill sharing.
