Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated IT Desktop Engineer to join our small, friendly technical support team. This position is ideal for someone early in their IT career who enjoys problem-solving, providing excellent customer service, and developing hands-on technical skills in a supportive environment.
You will work closely with other team members to provide first and second-line support to end users, assisting with desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral issues, as well as troubleshooting basic network and software problems. The role also involves equipment setups, and supporting wider IT projects and rollouts.
Security Clearance (SC) eligibility is essential due to the nature of the work.
Main Duties
Provide day-to-day technical support to users, deskside in person, via phone, and email.
Work collaboratively within a small IT team to deliver effective support across the business.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues on Windows-based systems.
Install, configure, and maintain desktop PCs, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
Support user account administration (password resets, permissions, access requests, etc.).
Assist in setting up new users and deploying devices in line with company standards.
Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or third-line support when required.
Maintain accurate records of work carried out using the IT ticketing system.
Assist with software rollouts, updates, and basic network troubleshooting.
Ensure IT equipment is properly maintained, logged, and tracked through the asset management system.
What we are looking for
Essential:

  • Good understanding of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service focus with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Previous experience in a 1st Line and Desktop Support role.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Intune, Azure, or ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Support work, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of networking (IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Fundamentals, or similar entry-level IT certifications.
