The Opportunity

The IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist is responsible for delivering and maintaining IT services which enable our business to function securely, efficiently & resiliently. Core responsibilities include deploying and supporting technical solutions across James Cropper PLC's infrastructure and cybersecurity domains. The role holder will design, configure, monitor and support services to enable core strategic platforms to run efficiently and securely, managing requests through our help desk system.

You will be responsible for;

The successful planning, implementation and operation of information security and IT infrastructure technologies and controls, including but not limited to the following services: networking, servers, telephony, firewalls, internet connectivity, storage, backup and recovery, operating systems, business continuity planning, cybersecurity defences, security incident management, audit and compliance. Managing requests (e.g. incidents, problems, user requests, change requests) through problem solving and interaction with colleagues. This will involve diagnosis, system administration, installation, configuration, user support, training and the development of reports and other materials to increase organisational knowledge. Sharing equally with other members of ISD, the responsibility of responding to out of hours calls and patching.

Essential skills that will make you successful?

Previous experience in an IT technical/cybersecurity role. Understanding of Microsoft Server Stack - M365, Exchange Online, CoPilot, Intune, Entra, Azure, Azure AD/AD, Single Sign On (SSO) and Hello for Business. Understanding of modern application management portals e.g. EndPoint Protection, web filtering, mail filtering and SaaS products e.g. phishing reporting tools, Learning Management System (LMS) and more. Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practice. Ability to manage & transform complex technical infrastructure and security landscapes. Ability to prioritise effectively based on business needs. Ability to manage multiple activities concurrently. Ability to manage sensitive information. Effective communication and collaboration: Ability to work with others, comfort in taking and giving direction with peers where necessary to achieve operational goals.

Desirable skills

Appropriate industry-recognised infrastructure, networking or security qualifications / equivalents. Previous experience within a manufacturing environment. An expert understanding of industry standards and cybersecurity e.g. including but not limited to ISO9001, ISO027001, Cyber Essentials and ITIL.
