Are you an experienced IT professional with a passion for building secure, resilient, and efficient systems? We're looking for an

IT Infrastructure Specialist

to support critical operations at our Ardeer site.

Reporting to the IT Manager, you'll provide advanced 2nd/3rd line technical support, maintain and develop our IT infrastructure and cloud services, and play a key role in strengthening our cyber security posture. This is a hands-on technical role in a dynamic manufacturing environment, ideal for someone who enjoys combining infrastructure management with an awareness of modern security challenges.

Key Responsibilities



Health, Safety & Compliance



Work in full compliance with H&SE legislation and company policies. Proactively report unsafe acts and conditions using the Near Miss system. Support the maintenance of CE+ certification across the site.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing



Develop and maintain IT policies, processes, and procedures. Create and update troubleshooting guides and knowledge base articles. Mentor and guide colleagues on new technologies and best practices.

Technical Support & Infrastructure



Provide advanced 2nd and 3rd line technical support and assist 1st line when needed. Build, deploy, and manage PCs, peripherals, and conference room hardware. Administer desk phones, voicemail systems, and maintain phone lists. Maintain asset registers and track installed software. Support user onboarding, inductions, and help desk operations in line with CEUK SLAs.

Systems & Security



Monitor and manage systems to maintain performance, reliability, and security. Administer Microsoft 365 environments, including configuration and compliance. Support cyber security initiatives and ensure best practices are applied across systems. Develop Power Apps and automation tools to improve reporting and efficiency. Manage VMware servers and physical network infrastructure (Fibre and Cat5-e). Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and restore procedures. Manage user accounts, permissions, and drive mappings following security standards. Process leaver data back-up, email archiving, and hardware sanitisation.

Collaboration & Projects



Work closely with Group IT and sister sites on shared infrastructure projects. Contribute to the long-term IT strategy for the site. Ensure project tasks and objectives are delivered on time and to high standards. Participate in team activities to ensure smooth, reliable operations.

Qualifications & Experience



Solid background in IT infrastructure and cloud services, with knowledge or experience in cyber security best practices. Proven experience delivering effective 2nd and 3rd line support. Strong technical expertise in Microsoft 365, VMware, Power Apps, SharePoint, and network infrastructure. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure reliable, secure systems. Confident communicator with a talent for mentoring and knowledge sharing. A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated, proactive, and always looking for smarter, more efficient ways of working. Detail-focused, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
