We are seeking a highly skilled Army IT Professional to support and maintain complex network and system infrastructure within a military environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security, stability, and efficiency of critical IT systems, supporting telecommunication networks, and implementing advanced cybersecurity measures. Duties
Manage and support network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, MPLS, and SAN environments using Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and other network hardware.
Configure and maintain firewalls such as Cisco ASA and Cisco ISE to ensure robust network security.
Implement and oversee VPNs, IPsec tunnels, SSL encryption, and SFTP for secure remote access.
Administer operating systems including Windows, Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris, and macOS across various platforms.
Support network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, EIGRP, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, NFS, and SNMP for seamless connectivity.
Utilise network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, and SolarWinds to proactively identify issues and optimise performance.
Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), Python, or Shell Scripting to automate system administration tasks.
Manage virtualisation environments including VMware vSphere and Citrix XenApp for efficient resource utilisation.
Implement load balancing solutions and high availability configurations to ensure system resilience.
Support cloud-based platforms such as Azure and AWS for scalable infrastructure deployment.
Conduct system administration tasks on UNIX/Linux systems including openSUSE and Ubuntu; ensure OS security patches are applied regularly.
Maintain network security through IDS/IPS systems; perform regular vulnerability assessments using tools like Splunk or SolarWinds.
Assist with network installation projects; configure routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF; manage network architecture design.
Support telecommunication systems including VoIP with QoS prioritisation; configure SSO authentication mechanisms for secure access.
Requirements
Proven experience in computer networking with comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, Ethernet switching, and MPLS networks.
Strong understanding of network security principles including encryption methods (SSL/TLS), PKI management, LDAP integration, SSO solutions, and network access controls.
Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/ASA devices; familiarity with Juniper equipment is advantageous.
Proficiency in configuring firewalls and VPN solutions; experience with Cisco ISE is desirable.
Skilled in managing operating systems such as Windows Server environments alongside Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS).
Knowledge of cloud services like Azure and AWS; experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or Citrix is preferred.
Ability to script automation tools using PowerShell or Bash; experience with DevOps practices is beneficial.
Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex network issues; familiarity with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds or PRTG is essential.
Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one; willingness to undergo background checks as required by military standards.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively within a disciplined environment.
