IT Operations Engineer

to join us on our exciting journey.

Overview

In this role as

IT Operations Engineer,

you will be part of the Operations Team, working to the Head of Engineering. You will work as part of an IT team building and ensuring systems are operationally maintained.

The candidate must have the ability to understand and apply rules associated with information assurance as directed by the Serbus security team.

Your role and responsibilities

(a) Assist in the design, build and configuration of Windows and Linux server infrastructure.
(b) Assist in the build, configuration, installation of networking and server infrastructure on premise or at customer sites when required.
(c) Assist with infrastructure automation, scripting and orchestration.
(d) Act as an escalation point for complex issues from the 2nd line Infrastructure team, therefore must be able to perform deep troubleshooting in several different areas.
(e) Work with Mobile Device Management solutions and Secure Mobile applications, working with Android mobile devices and enterprise solutions.
(f) Work with VPN solutions such as Cisco to provide services to client devices.
(g) 5 days a week onsite here at our office in Rotherwas, Hereford, no remote working options.

Essential Experience

(a) A driven, motivated person with a great capacity and desire to learn.
(b) A team player prepared to work within a fast-paced organisation.
(c) Have excellent knowledge of Windows environments, both server and client.
(d) Have excellent knowledge of Virtualized Environments such as VMware or Hyper-V.
(e) Have good general knowledge of networking fundamentals, knowledge of routing, switching, firewalling, TCP/IP, and OSI model.
(g) Have experience of producing and updating technical documentation to a high standard.
(h) The ability to follow and work to existing business continuity and security processes.
(i) Prepared to work with Serbus to gain UK Government Security Clearance. UK Nationals only.

Desirable Experience

a) Hold an existing level of security clearance.
b) A person with an IT related degree, such as Computer Science.
c) Have some field related qualifications such as CCNA, Security+, Microsoft certifications, or RHCSA .
d) Have experience with MDM/EMM solutions.
e) Have experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
f) Experience providing customer technical support when required.

24 days annual leave + bank holidays, then 1 extra day holiday per year of service.
