We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT Operations Specialist to join the IT team at Caledonian Sleeper.

Caledonian Sleeper is an iconic overnight rail journey connecting Scotland with London, operating nightly (except Saturdays), serving major cities and rural destinations.

Established in the late 19th century, Caledonian Sleeper has a long-standing reputation for comfort, hospitality, and delivering a unique travel experience across the UK's scenic routes. The service operates primarily overnight, allowing passengers to sleep comfortably on specially designed sleeper trains, arriving refreshed at their destination.

As a service operated on behalf of the Scottish Government, it is part of the UK's public sector efforts to promote sustainable and convenient travel.

THE ROLE



The IT Operations Specialist - Applications will oversee and optimise our IT systems with a primary focus on Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and CRM systems, and Azure data solutions. The ideal candidate will work with our managed service provider to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and enhancement of these platforms, enabling the organisation to drive business efficiency and data-driven decisions.

Reporting directly to the Head of IT, the IT Operations specialist will work as part of a small well-rounded team supporting the business. This role will also work with our Managed Service Provider to support the organisations applications and data estate. The role will require the development of key stakeholder relationships with both internal colleagues and external suppliers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Power Platform Management



Develop, deploy, maintain and support applications and workflows within Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI).

Monitor and troubleshoot Power Platform solutions to ensure optimal performance.

Provide technical support and training for end-users. Escalating to the MSP when required

Ensure data integrity and security across the Environments.

Dynamics 365 System



Administer users and work with the MSP to support the company's Dynamics CRM/ERP system.

Work with the business to scope, develop and deploy improvements, efficiencies and new developments working with the MSP or third party on large developments.

Ensure data integrity and security within the Dynamics 365 estate.

Support in the creation of reports and dashboards.

Azure Data Factory and SQL support



Support the organisation's Azure SQL database with optimisation and work with third party service provider to deliver automation of data consolidation.

Collaborate with stakeholders and support them in creating their data solutions accessing data from APIs, SQL, the Dataverse and other locations as required.

Support the business teams with Azure data factory use setting up and configuring pipelines and activities.

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across systems.

Recommend new technology or approaches to improve processes.

IT Operations and Support



Monitor and maintain the overall application estate and work with the third-party supplier to ensure uptime and reliability.

Identify and resolve system issues in a timely manner.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement IT projects and initiatives.

Document processes, system changes, and technical troubleshooting procedures.

Provide data security advice to the organisation for IT applications, PowerApps or integrations to existing systems.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:



Education and Experience



Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in IT Operations, including CRM administration, Database administration, PowerApps development or similar role.

Technical Skills



Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Centre of Excellence kit).

Highly proficient with Dynamics 366 User administration and configuration.

Strong knowledge of data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and SQL.

Experience with integration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS).

Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).

Good knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.

Understanding of ITIL practices and principles.

Desirable Qualifications



Certifications in Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365.
