Our client is looking for a IT service desk apprentice to join their small and rapidly growing friendly internet service business.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the following:
Answering customer enquiries via the telephone
Monitoring and responding to customer enquiries via email
Monitoring and responding to customer enquiries via webchat / social media
Liaising with wholesale network providers to deliver services to our customers
Enquiries of the following nature would be expected:
Sales and product enquiries
Taking orders from customers
Installation bookings and triaging installation issues
Troubleshooting technical issues with broadband and home networking

The ability to be friendly and fun with customers, breaking the usual scripted experiences of calling an internet service provider.
The ability to understand and advise on which of our service packages are suitable for our customers in an engaging, helpful and dynamic way.
The ability to understand how our internet services are delivered, and to be able to explain the process to customers so they know what to expect.
The ability to troubleshoot, installation, and technical issues.
A candidate with the following knowledge would be at an advantage:
Understanding of different internet technologies such as ADSL, VDSL, GPON and P2P fibre
Understanding of home networking, Wi-Fi and Mesh Wi-Fi systems
Ability to troubleshoot networking, device and Wi-Fi issues.
As our client builds their own tools and software in house other desired skills and opportunities include:
PHP / Laravel / MYSQL work
BGP / OSP / Peering
Layer 2 Network / SVLAN / CVLANs
Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Information Communications Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
The classroom training for the ICT apprenticeship comprises of 4 modules
Each module takes 1 week, and the apprentice will attend this in an online classroom with their designated JBC trainer
When the classroom training takes place will be agreed at the induction meeting between employer, apprentice and JBC Skills trainer/mentor. We advise a bi-monthly approach to each module
The full 5 days will be required on the training weeks, and the apprentice must be in a quiet, suitable environment for learning to take place. This can either be in the workplace or at home. The class sizes are small (a maximum of 10 learners) so that discussions and assessment can take place between apprentices, peers and trainers
The 4 ICT modules are:
Networking Fundamentals
Mobility and Operating Systems
Cloud Fundamentals
IT and Business Principles
JBC delivers this apprenticeship over 16 Months total. This is made up of a 13-month training period and a 3-month assessment period that is known as EPA (End Point Assessment).
On the apprentice's successful completion of the end point assessment, the apprentice will receive the following:
Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Certification.
This apprenticeship is recognised for entry on to the Register of IT Technicians and those completing their apprenticeships are eligible to apply for registration.

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade Grade C (4) or above) essential
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade Grade C (4) or above) essential
