Due to continued success, I am looking to employ an additional support technician to join our team. We are a small IT company trading since 2006, providing IT services to businesses and schools across Norfolk.
No two days are the same. As a member of a small team, you will be required to work across different areas of IT, but with the same target - to ensure complete satisfaction for our clients. So - if you are looking for a regular IT job, resolving a conveyor belt of mundane support tickets - I'm afraid this job is not for you.
One day, you could be on-site installing and configuring a new IP phone system. On another you could be working from our office covering the support desk, taking care of all-things IT for a diverse range of clients throughout the region, resolving a real mixed bag of issues. And on another, you may simply be setting up a new laptop for a home-worker. You'll enjoy building relationships with clients, becoming a fundamental part of both their team and ours.
Our clients know us for being what I would describe as 'professionally informal' - we like to have a laugh, whilst getting the job done to an exceptional standard. However, this only works if you are punctual, willing to take responsibility of complex technical situations, as well as offering empathetic support to those who are less confident with IT. You should be happy to work both independently, managing your own workflow, as well as working as part of the team - both remotely and on-site.
A good knowledge of Microsoft products will be required both on the desktop and the server. A good knowledge of networking is also required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Excellent verbal and written communication
An ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks
Excellent knowledge of Windows Server including AD, Exchange, GPO Administration and Hyper-V
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 products including SharePoint and Entra ID
Knowledge of further Microsoft 365 services such as Intune
Excellent knowledge of networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Firewalls, VLAN, WLAN) especially across Mikrotik, Draytek, Cambium & Ubiquiti products
Working knowledge of IP telephony (SIP trunks, hosted PBX, and provisioning)
Working knowledge of RMM solutions such as N-Central
Working knowledge of EDR solutions such as SentinelOne or antivirus such as ESET
Working knowledge of popular line-of-business applications such as Sage
Great communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable attributes would be:
Experience of Apple devices and device management thereof (Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager, or Jamf)
Experience of Google Workspace including Chrome devices and management
Experience of ICT solutions in an educational environment
Working knowledge of on-premise telecoms and data cabling
Knowledge of cyber-security methodology, terminology and certification such as Cyber Essentials
Professional IT certifications such as Microsoft MCP
Due to our work in the education sector and with vulnerable persons an enhanced DBS certificate is mandatory, and we will carry out one of these independently if successful.
You must be able to drive, and you must have your own car. If you are required to use your own car then work mileage will be remunerated at 45p per mile. However, you will generally have the use of a work van to get to/from client sites.
You must live within a reliable commuting distance of our office at Snetterton Business Park (NR16 2JU).
Your pay will be dependent on experience. I try to reward the team when possible so performance related bonuses are made after strong periods of trade and completion of various projects.
If you have a real passion for IT, an inherent desire to problem-solve, and have previous IT support experience then you could be the teammate we're looking for. Please send us your CV along with a covering letter demonstrating why you think we would be a good fit.
