Role Background




We are looking for a knowledgeable and personable IT Support Officer to assist our growing an increasingly digitally enabled workforce with technical issues relating to their working practice. The role will combine some basic, first line end user assistance with hardware, software and our systems, while managing the day-to-day relationship with our outsourced IT support company who provide more formal support to our office-based and remote workforce.


The post holder will be an excellent problem solver with the ability to communicate effectively across the organisation and be comfortable supporting an end user with a Microsoft Office query one moment while supporting the rollout a new infrastructure project the next.


As the role will be responsible for onsite IT support and digital projects at our central Bradford office, it will be suited to somebody looking for a position that is predominantly office based.


The role will be performed primarily during core working hours Monday to Friday, with some occasional evening or weekend work as required.

Role Purpose




You will support the smooth day-to-day running of the charitys digital workplace operations and technology infrastructure. Your role will combine being an initial point of contact for end user IT issues with liaising with the organisations outsourced IT provider for more complex matters. You will manage day to day procurement of IT equipment and support the efficient implementation through onboarding and offboarding processes as part of our HR and Facilities team. You will support a process of continuous digital transformation with project and governance work alongside senior colleagues.

Role Outcomes



Provide good quality first-line technical support to the staff team, troubleshooting and resolving basic issues in a timely manner; or escalating to our managed support provider as required. Liaise with the organisations outsourced IT provider, ensuring service standards are met and dealing with ad hoc problems for end users. Supporting the organisations outsourced IT provider with device compliance across the organisation. Assisting with the set up and configuration of hardware and software applications. Liaise with suppliers for the procurement of equipment and software. Manage starters and leavers as required, arranging for equipment purchase, return, re-assignment and decommissioning. Assist with the management of user accounts, permissions, and access control, ensuring data security. Managing the organisations telephone systems and portals, including carrying out simple telephone moves and changes, or licencing issues. Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of IT assets and digital office equipment. Supporting the organisations data security and protection work via an information governance working group, and additional work associated with cyber accreditations. Create and update documentation for IT procedures and user / troubleshooting guides Delivering training or awareness sessions to colleagues based on trends identified via tickets or support requests.

Qualifications & Experience




Essential:

Proven experience (2 years plus) in an IT support role, preferably onsite. Demonstrable experience of IT troubleshooting, hardware and software support. Experience in supporting the design and roll out of IT-related projects. Experience supporting hybrid working environments.

Desirable:

Relevant IT certifications. Budget management and experience of procurement of hardware and software. Knowledge of hosted communications systems/portals and integration with IT infrastructure (such as MS teams/Webex). Experience with mobile device management solutions. Experience of working in a charity or healthcare environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




Essential:

Ability to identify, diagnose and resolve common IT issues efficiently. Experience with Windows operating systems, cloud platforms and Microsoft 365. Implementing and managing Microsoft SharePoint environments, groups and Teams channels. Knowledge of IT security best practices and data protection regulations.

Attitude and Personal Attributes




Essential:

Working knowledge of digital or data compliance requirements relating to common accreditation schemes (such as Cyber Essentials) Managing and maintaining asset registers. Friendly approachable person with good organisational skills, enthusiasm, energy and work ethic. Good written and oral communication skills. An appetite for problem-solving and making improvements and enhancing existing ways of working. Ability to multi-task and prioritise to meet deadlines.

Desirable:



Ability to dissimilate information in a simple clear manner to people for whom the use of IT systems is not their main work requirement
