We are recruiting on behalf of a training provider where you will gain valuable experience as a Level 3 Information Communications Technician, following the Support Technician pathway. We pride ourselves on the support we give our apprentices, you won\xe2\x80\x99t be left on your own to figure things out, we will support you throughout your apprenticeship journey together with your employer!

About the role:

The IT Support Technician (Apprentice) will work to continuously improve the IT systems across the Company. The successful candidate will provide IT support to our staff and work to ensure staff have the IT equipment and software they need for their roles. Ideal candidates will have a strong desire to continue their learning and will thrive in a fast-paced and varied role.

Location:

Derby or Chesterfield preferred, occasional travel across the Midlands may be required. Full UK driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence and access to own vehicle is desirable

What you will be doing:
  • Ensure asset register (managed through AssetTiger) is fully up to date so that all IT equipment is tracked across the company
  • Supply all new starters within the business with correct equipment and software through a centralised process and ensure all newly-issued equipment has an asset tag
  • Complete IT training with all new starters (face-to-face or remote) to ensure they can access all of the equipment and relevant sites
  • Check all leaver equipment and update asset register, notifying line managers and your manager of any issues
  • Maintain working relationship and open communication with Tech-Shire in relation to staff laptop issues and/or Office 365 issues
  • Complete ad hoc equipment checks to ensure staff are maintaining the equipment and that it is fit for purpose
  • Maintain accurate records of all software licenses, plugins and antiviruses including passwords on Office 365, only accessible by manager and Senior Leadership Team
  • Maintain relationships with external suppliers like Intercity, RCUK, and Laptops Direct
  • Source equipment as required looking at best options to present to manager before ordering
  • Manage the Workpays website server and, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager, make any updates, as needed (all sites running WordPress)
  • Maintain master learner laptop register and ensure that operations managers are updating as required, feedback to manager any issues
  • Cleanse staff and learner learner laptops before re-issue, report any concerns to the operations manager and manager
  • Troubleshoot ICT problems/issues, including hardware issues, and work to resolve them
  • Maintain Office 365 Admin, add and remove users, create groups as required
  • Maintain and update Project W platform (WordPress/LearnDash LMS) - ensure updates are installed, two weeks after release and one at a time - support with any Project W issues as they arise and maintain plugins - ensure server remains secure and scan monthly
  • Ad hoc IT support when needed for staff
The training you\'ll be provided with:

  • Specialising in a portfolio of evidence for the Support Technician pathway
  • Access to uCertify training platform; core learning materials, assessments, and practical hands-on-labs
  • e-learning training materials
  • Bi-weekly virtual classroom training on the CompTIA vendor qualifications
  • Monthly work-based coaches visits and competency checks
  • Primary Goal Support desk for technical support
You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!

As one of our apprentices you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

We are looking for someone who:
  • IT proficient with an ability to use all Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
  • Able to use own initiative and be proactive in minimising risk
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills
  • Able to identify and analyse problems and present potential solutions
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including active listening
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
Working Week:

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.

Salary:

\xc2\xa320,350.00

Desired Qualifications:

We require someone who is educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.

GCSE in Computer Science or equivalent Level 2 qualification is desirable.

Expected Duration:

15 months and 4 Months End Point Assessment
