St Helena have an exciting opportunity for an IT Technician on a permanent contract working 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday. A full UK driving licence for this role is required.
Duties include:
Carry out all system administration activities to ensure the availability of information systems, including all appropriate backup, security, and maintenance functions.
Contribute towards the delivery of IT services including wide area and local area networking, server, storage and cloud infrastructure and unified communications services.
Assist in the implementation and development of a full suite of server/infrastructure side planned preventative maintenance tasks e.g., configuring server backups, monitor network use statistics and loads, and develop, maintain, and implement contingency plans to minimise network and system downtime.
Proactively monitor the helpdesk, provide initial response to users and resolve or assign tasks accordingly.
Provide on-going maintenance and management of servers and IT infrastructure services such as Active Directory services, server virtualisation, messaging systems, data storage as well as other IT systems.
Monitor the performance of WAN links and resolve any issues in consultation with 3rd party providers including links to the wider NHS and social care networks.
Monitor and maintain server room environments and the equipment contained within, logging and implementing remediation works when required.
Our ideal candidate:
Must have a suitable IT qualification at Degree/A level or equivalent experience
Must have experience of updating and repairing computer hardware plus server systems and networking.
Installing & configuring operating sytems and software.
Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, IT hardware, in depth knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Software
