: IVF Lab Assistant and Data Officer (Part-Time:24hrs per week)
Position Overview
The
IVF Lab Assistant and Data Officer
supports the daily operations of our embryology laboratory assisting embryologists with laboratory procedures and ensuring accurate data management. This dual-role position is crucial for maintaining high laboratory standards, supporting patient care, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Support
Assist embryologists with routine laboratory procedures, including preparation of media, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, and maintaining laboratory supplies.
Prepare and label culture dishes, test tubes, and other consumables for use in IVF procedures.
Monitor and record laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration logs.
Assist in handling and tracking gametes and embryos under supervision, following strict protocols and aseptic techniques.
Dispose of biological waste and laboratory materials in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
Data Management
Accurately enter and update patient and laboratory data in electronic medical record (EMR) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities, including sample tracking, procedure logs, and inventory management.
Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Generate routine and ad hoc reports for clinical, laboratory, and regulatory purposes.
Support audits and inspections by preparing required documentation and data summaries.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control measures, and laboratory safety protocols.
Participate in internal quality assurance programs and assist with the implementation of corrective actions.
Assist with the documentation required for regulatory compliance and accreditation processes.
Communication & Teamwork
Liaise with clinical, administrative, and laboratory staff to ensure smooth workflow and accurate information exchange.
Provide support and training to new staff or interns as required.
Attend departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, medical laboratory science, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or IVF setting is an advantage.
Proficiency with data management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team, follow protocols, and maintain confidentiality.
Excellent communication skills.
Working Conditions
Laboratory and office environment.
May require flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, depending on clinical workload.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
