About the role

The starting salary for this role is \xc2\xa338,746 per annum, based on working 36-hours per week. This is a fixed term / secondment opportunity for 18-months.

The Council has recognised that it\'s time to modernise and reform its Pay and Reward offer to make it more attractive for our current workforce as well as those looking to start their career with us.

A huge part of this reform programme is to introduce a new grading structure that will follow a comprehensive programme of job analysis and evaluation to determine market value and where we fit in to the wider world of work.

Job evaluation and analysis may not sound like the most exciting activity in the world but for the right person this is a dream opportunity to really delve into detail, leading to a refreshed structure that will make a significant difference to how the council approaches job profiling. In return you will be making a difference to the 10,000+ people who provide services to the residents of Surrey.

We need someone with a keen eye for detail and possess strong analytical skills. You\'ll be talking to a variety of people across the council so being able to communicate effectively is super important.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting job evaluations and analysing job roles to determine their relative worth and position within the market.
  • Review and evaluate job descriptions, responsibilities, and qualifications to assess the complexity, impact, and value of each role.
  • Utilise industry-standard job evaluation methodologies and tools to assign appropriate job levels and grades to different positions.
  • Collaborate across the Council to gather relevant data and information for job evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain job evaluation documentation, including evaluation criteria, rating scales, and evaluation records.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on job levelling, salary structures, and compensation adjustments.
To be considered for interview, your application needs to evidence the following requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Job Evaluation Analyst or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of job evaluation methodologies and tools - for example, Hay, Local Government Scheme, GLPC.
  • Familiarity with compensation practices, market trends, and legislation related to job evaluation and compensation.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, using excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and proficiency in using MS Office Suite.
