POSITION SUMMARY



To deliver compassionate, high-quality, person-centred care to residents in accordance with individual care plans and in compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Fundamental Standards, the homes' own policies and procedures and also your employee handbook. You will work as part of a dedicated care team to promote residents' independence, dignity, safety, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:



1.

Personal care and support



Assist residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, and continence care, respecting each resident's dignity and preferences.

Provide appropriate support during mealtimes, including serving meals and assisting residents with their fluid and nutritional intake.

Support residents to safely mobilise, transfer and reposition in accordance with their care plans and manual handling guidelines.

Health, Safety and wellbeing



Monitor and record residents' wellbeing and promptly report concerns, including changes in condition, pressure area risks, falls, or safeguarding issues, to senior staff.

Follow individual risk assessments and ensure all care is delivered in line with care plans and clinical advice.

Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols, including safe handling of waste and use of PPE.

Maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment, including making beds, managing laundry, and ensuring the safe use and storage of equipment.

3.

Communication and relationships



Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, visitors and colleagues, promoting trust and emotional support.

Encourage resident participation in social and recreational activities and support them in making choices about their daily life.

Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents who may be living with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

4.

Teamwork and professional conduct



Contribute actively to team discussions, handovers and staff meetings.

Follow the direction of senior care staff and managers, completing delegated tasks efficiently and safely.

Report promptly any concerns, incidents or accidents in line with safeguarding, whistleblowing and home policies.

5.

Training, compliance and continuous improvement



Attend all required training and development sessions to maintain competence and meet statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g. MCA, DoLS, infection control, safeguarding).

Keep up to date with CQC standards and contribute to the home's quality improvement and compliance activities.

Support the Home's policies and procedures, including confidentiality, GDPR, equality, and dignity in care.

Key skills and attributes



Genuine interest in working with older adults, including those with dementia or mental health needs.

Ability to deliver person-centered care with empathy, patience, and respect.

Reliable, flexible, and a good team player.

Physically able to undertake manual handling tasks.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

7.

Qualifications and experience



NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).

Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is advantageous.

Understanding of safeguarding, infection control, and health and safety in a care environment.
