Role Overview:
As
Sous Chef
, you'll support the Head Chef in running the kitchen day-to-day. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is confident in the kitchen, thrives under pressure, and enjoys contributing ideas to menus and specials. You'll be responsible for maintaining high standards, leading shifts, and helping to train and motivate the kitchen team. This is a great opportunity for a Sous Chef looking to step up, or an experienced CDP ready to take the next step in a growing company.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation
Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen service, food prep, and quality control.
Take the lead during shifts in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring smooth service.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness at all times.
Assist with stock control, ordering, and deliveries.
Team Support & Leadership
Help lead and train junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
Foster a positive, respectful kitchen culture that reflects the values of the business.
Communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to ensure service runs smoothly.
Menu Input & Specials
Contribute ideas for new dishes and seasonal specials.
Ensure food presentation, portion control, and consistency across all service.
Help monitor food margins and minimise waste where possible.
What We're Looking For
Experience as a Sous Chef or strong CDP in a busy, fresh-food kitchen.
Confident cooking high-quality dishes and managing service in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Great communication and teamwork skills.
Understanding of food hygiene, safety procedures, and kitchen best practices.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak trading times.
A desire to grow and progress with the company as it expands.
