The role




We're looking for a passionate Junior Analytics Engineer to join our Actuarial team. This team leverages technical expertise in actuarial modelling, statistical analysis, and risk management solutions to support a high-impact team of 90+ underwriters. The Actuarial team works seamlessly with Underwriting to help the company stay ahead in the ever-changing insurance market.

In this role, you are building and maintaining data pipelines and data models to elevate the Actuarial team and help answer Fidelis' most difficult business challenges alongside being a key person to assist the business with their data requests.

Key accountabilities




Investigate and resolve ad-hoc issues in underlying data systems and models Ensure all Analytics data systems and models are documented and shared among the team Create and maintain scalable data pipelines to manage and transform large amounts insurance data for analytics use cases and company-wide reporting. Bring fresh insight into a progressing space, identifying the key issue to solve for, and how to unearth the metrics that will inform key business decisions. Be a strategic partner to the Underwriting team: Helping to identify critical analytical problems and find innovative solutions with data Collaborate with Actuaries, Underwriters, Data Engineers and Data Analysts to conduct analyses and apply statistics to answer specific day-to-day questions or support larger initiatives. Develop data-driven stories to answer some of the toughest questions in entertainment through data visualization and the summarizing of insights in verbal and written form #

Skills & experience




Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field or relevant industry experience. Experience in the London or Lloyd's insurance markets Knowledge of programming and data manipulation skills such as SQL and Python, and version control (Github). Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure Strong data visualization skills and experience with Power BI is a bonus. Experience building multi-step ETL jobs/data pipelines and working with job scheduling systems is a plus. Demonstrated ability to thrive with minimal oversight and process. You connect the dots across business needs and independently drive projects forward. #
