Main Purpose of Role



Support pre-order technical calculations and designs for our diverse product range, contributing to detailed product and scheme submissions.


Collaborate with the team to ensure our clients' needs are met and the most suitable and innovative products are recommended.


Stay updated on relevant legislation and government codes and learn how to apply them in the context of Building Regulations to provide accurate guidance and advice.

Key Accountabilities





Assist with heat loss and ventilation calculations, providing initial advice on suitable product applications to meet heating and airflow requirements. Support the team in preparing information and guidance to help achieve building regulations approval and meet emission rating levels. Identify personal training needs and stay updated on legislative changes, electrical, and hydronic designs. Learn to understand structural elements of building fabrics and insulation materials and their impact on scheme design. Take into account air change rates to ensure accurate calculations. Assist with industry-standard design modelling (e.g., SAP) to support our designs and product ranges. Familiarize yourself with relevant British Standards affecting our offerings. Support the design of Heat Pump schemes for domestic and commercial developments. Participate in meetings, presentations, and events to support marketing and sales efforts. Ensure designs and products are appropriately sized and selected to meet client and project requirements. Collaborate with R&D teams, product management, and other departments to ensure new products and upgrades are fully considered before launch. Provide technical input and feedback into conceptual products, schemes, technical literature, and training materials. Learn to interpret and update architectural drawings and CAD designs as needed. Maintain accurate data regarding customer and scheme information on CRM. Liaise with customers, architects, consultants, specifiers, wholesalers, contractors, and consumers to support project and product queries. Attend design coordination meetings to resolve project queries. Build relationships with other departments to improve information flow. Support the delivery of customer tender submissions, including designs, technical submissions, and tender coordination. Store and update vital product and project information as required. Collaborate with third-party companies to deliver high-quality hydraulic and ducting designs. Guide the salesforce on project-specific technical requirements. Support training requirements for office and field staff, installation contractors, and clients. Communicate effectively at all levels, keeping everyone updated on legislative changes and critical information. Promote best practices in health and safety related to the design and implementation of heating and ventilation systems. Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Market Strategy and Planning Director or their superiors.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience



Essential Criteria



A formal qualification (HND/Degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field. Basic understanding of HVAC systems and principles. Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members and clients. Ability to identify and resolve basic technical issues. Ensuring accuracy in calculations and design work. Willingness to develop skills and knowledge in the HVAC field. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Flexibility to take on various tasks and adapt to new challenges.

Desirable Criteria



Any prior experience through internships or placements in the HVAC industry is beneficial. Experience with academic or personal projects related to HVAC design and calculations. Awareness of relevant building regulations and standards. Familiarity with design software (e.g., CAD) and industry-standard modelling tools (e.g., SAP). Understanding of relevant legislation and government codes affecting HVAC systems.

Competencies



Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Basic knowledge of Heat Pump Systems. Ability to perform basic calculations and interpret technical data. Windows 365 proficiency.

Travel





There may be a requirement to travel on occasion to other parts of the GDHV business both within the UK and Ireland. Customer and supplier visits will be required on an ad hoc basis
