Key Objectives of the Role
The candidate will work across the applications team on reactive and proactive projects, working on sweet goods, beverage, nutrition and potentially savoury products. This will cover products such as yogurts, dairy drinks, sweet bakery, protein shakes, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and savoury goods. The main role will be developing food and drink formulations and customer recipes with Synergy's taste solutions (considering both technical and commercial constraints).
The role involves supporting the creation of Synergy's flavour portfolio, to ensure the best solutions are aligned to our customer's needs whilst supporting the Synergy business strategy.
You will have a curious mind set to continuously learn and develop industry leading ways of working and product applications.
Objectives, Roles and ResponsibilitiesWork on customer briefs to select the best taste solutions using Synergy's flavour portfolio.
Develop customer application recipes and prepare samples.
Attend both customer and internal presentations as well as customer workshops.
Work collaboratively on projects with other members of the innovation team, marketing and the commercial team.
Select appropriate flavours for sample requests.
With the application team, evaluate flavours and optimise Synergy's portfolio.
Attend sensory sessions to support the work of the innovation team and QC.
Ensure that the laboratory is kept clean, tidy in accordance with good laboratory practice.
Keep up to date with trends in the food / drink industry and with relevant legislation.
Support taste modulation initiatives
Conduct informal sensory evaluations such as degree of difference testing
There may from time to time be a request to assist with duties not listed above, within reason.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience (Required to perform the job)
EssentialDegree in Food Science / Science, or related subject
Keen attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communicator with all stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Ability to prioritise effectively, while working on multiple projects, often with short deadlines
Creative mindset, looking for opportunities for continuous improvement.
Passionate about food
Highly desirableExperience working within the food / beverage industry or in the ingredients sector
Experience of working with flavours, with an understanding of taste challenges in market products.
Recipe development knowledge in the sweet goods, nutrition and beverage categories
