The Woodshack Limited (trading as Calshot) is a bespoke restoration business located at James' Wharf in Southampton. We have been responsible for crafting, restoring, and repurposing an array of items. All works, including the construction of artisan furniture or restoration of vehicles and vessels, are completed on site in a way that honours tradition, craftsmanship and quality. As a group we are continually developing and work in a truly unique environment. The business is currently undertaking significant capital projects in the UK and abroad including the re-building of workshops and new offices and improving Southampton's last remaining working dry dock.
Due to a number of new contracts, we are now looking for a dynamic, capable and committed professional to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be personable and energetic with the ability to form effective working relationships within Calshot's team.
Responsibilities of the role will include (but not limited to) the following:
Processing and posting employee expenses
Weekly reconciliation, processing and posting of contractors' invoices.
Assistance with accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation tasks as appropriate
Handle general bookkeeping tasks, including filing and maintaining records
Assist the Management Accountant with month and year end processes
Assist with company administration tasks as appropriate. This may include: ONS survey submissions, VAT and other HMRC/tax related tasks.
Provide year end reconciliations for statutory accounts and assist with requests from Auditors
Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence/high workload.
Person specification
Recent experience in a similar role within an SME
Confident user of financial systems eg Xero, Sage
Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Team player with good communication skills
Practical approach to problem-solving
Enduring and flexible character, with ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information
40 hours of work per week - Monday to Friday.
20 days holiday plus standard bank holidays
