Bakery Lamour opened its doors in 2018 on East Hill in Wandsworth. Primarily focused on sourdough bread, French baguettes and pastries, it is also a cafe offering other baked goods such as cakes and biscuits. The bakery also supplies other shops and restaurants around Wandsworth.
Summary
With the demand for baked goods increasing, we are looking for a baker to help with the production.
Ideally we are looking for someone with some experience in baking but all levels will be considered.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to open their own bakery in the future as they can learn all aspects of the business if they wish to develop.
Duties
Your duties will be mainly but not limited to:
Managing all day-to-day operations of the bakery section of the kitchen, including prepping, scaling, mixing, baking, decorating and packaging
Preparing a wide variety of baked goods including but not limited to bread, pastries, biscuits, cakes, cupcakes, tray bakes and savoury items (quiches, pizzas...)
Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, yeast, sugar etc.
Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
Ensure that the kitchen is clean and tidy at all times and meets all Health & Safety requirements
Adhere to all sanitation, safety, and food preparation laws
Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products.
For someone with more experience, duties will also include:
Creating new and exciting seasonal offerings to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
Place orders for supplies within budget#
Create scalable recipes for all new dishes
Calculate and manage foods costs
Requirements
Extremely organised with a high attention to detail
Communication skills
Basic maths skills
Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, afternoons and evenings
Creativity
Proven experience as Baker
Experience in French baking and viennoiserie
Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
Proficiency using kitchen equipment and appliances
Willingness to develop professional knowledge and experience
Enjoys working in a collaborative environment
Thrives in a fast paced environment
