The Opportunity




We're looking for a

Junior Costs Draftsman

to join our expanding Costs Department.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking legal team, working across multiple practice areas including:


Personal Injury (RTA, EL/PL, Industrial Disease, Psychiatric Injury) Clinical Negligence Other civil litigation matters

The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced Costs team to draft accurate and compliant Bills of Costs and related documentation.


Key Responsibilities




Drafting Bills of Costs for detailed assessment Preparing Schedules of Costs, Estimates of Costs, and Statements of Costs for Summary Assessment Producing Precedent H and Precedent R documents Managing both paper files and a paperless case management system Liaising with fee earners and clients where required Maintaining accuracy and compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)

About You




You will ideally have at least 1 year of experience in a costs role and be confident handling your own caseload with minimal supervision. You'll have a solid understanding of the CPR particularly costs rules, Part 7 and Part 8 litigation and be eager to further develop your expertise.


Essential Skills and Experience:




Minimum

1 year's experience

in costs drafting Strong knowledge of CPR and costs procedures Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy Good communication and organisational skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently Proficient in Microsoft Excel and CostMaster Experience with Proclaim Case Management System (advantageous but not essential) A positive attitude and commitment to professional growth
