Junior Counter & Garment Care Assistant
Location - Garment Spa - Chiswick
Hours - Monday to Saturday, 12:00pm - 7:00pm (36 hours per week)
Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Junior Counter & Garment Care Assistant to support the day-to-day running of our premium dry cleaning and wet cleaning business.
This role is hands-on and varied, combining customer-facing counter work with garment processing and finishing. Full training will be provided, but attention to detail, willingness to learn, and pride in quality are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Counter & Customer Service
Receive garments from customers and carry out counter intake
Identify visible stains, damage, or special care requirements
Mark and note stains clearly for cleaning
Tag garments accurately using the EPOS system
Explain standard turnaround times and services clearly to customers
Handle customer collections and payments professionally
Maintain a clean, calm, and professional front-of-house environment
Garment Processing & Cleaning
Sort garments according to fabric, colour, and care requirements
Carry out dry cleaning and wet cleaning under guidance and procedures
Load and unload machines safely and correctly
Follow cleaning instructions and garment care standards precisely
Identify garments that require escalation or senior approval
Pressing, Finishing & Packaging
Perform light pressing of garments
Carry out shirt pressing to company standards
Finish garments neatly and consistently
Package garments using plastic-free and reusable packaging materials
Prepare garments ready for customer collection or delivery
Alterations Support
Take accurate measurements from customers for alterations
Clearly record alteration instructions
Liaise with the tailor where required
Ensure altered garments are correctly matched and prepared for collection
Standards & Expectations
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation
Follow all garment care procedures and quality standards
Work calmly and methodically, even during busy periods
Take responsibility for accuracy and quality of work
Communicate clearly with the owner and team
Be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Good attention to detail
Comfortable working with clothing and fabrics
Willingness to learn garment care processes
Basic customer service skills
Ability to follow procedures and checklists
Desirable (but not required):
Experience in dry cleaning, laundry, tailoring, or garment care
Previous counter or retail experience
Basic pressing experience
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
