About The Role:




The Junior Design Manager - Store Transformation will lead all international and small works design related tasks for Store Development Projects. Using creative and technical expertise, the Junior Design Manager will support and/or manage design from the Define phase up to the Technical Design, where the Junior Design Manager will work with the PM Team overseeing design elements through to the execution of the project and act as the Design Custodian for Fortnum & Mason.


Key interfaces: You will need to interact with internal and external stakeholders: Proposition & Commercial teams, VM, Finance, Technology, Maintenance and Facilities, Heads of Departments, 3rd party contractors and designers





What You'll Do:




Fortnum & Mason Design Ownership | Custodian




CUSTODIAN

- Be the custodian of Fortnum & Mason Design Guidelines (and build and amend these as and where needed)

DESIGN MANAGEMENT

&

EXECUTION

- Manage third party relationships, ability to motivate and encourage external design agencies to develop designs that meet the project criteria and design excellence

BOOK OF STANDARDS

- Together with the Senior Design Manager, Store Development and Transformation team create and maintain a book of design standards, suppliers, consultants and contractors. Set up Design Templets as needed.

SUSTAIABILITY

- Work with the Sustainability Team and develop sustainability standards

HEALTH & SAFETY

- Reviewing designs with health & safety in mind to ensure compliances to all standards

CHANGE

- Driving change, constantly seeking ways to optimise the best solutions to deliver projects

DOCUMENTATION

Manage all design information, maintain thorough documentation of the design process with easy access to all internal departments. Act as point of contact for design related queries and circulation of design information P

ROJECT HEALTH

- Together with the Project Lead, Transformation Project Manager, Store Development Project Manager make sure: Scope, quality, budget and programme have a healthy relationship throughout the project

INNOVATION

- Seek and research new trends and customer behaviour related to design innovation

Design Management & Responsibilities - Store Development Strategy




Strategic Definition (Define), Preparation & Briefing




Manage and develop project briefs with the Senior Design Manager, Head of Proposition & PM teams, ability to outline design requirements & scope both internally and externally and develop these up to Technical Design Work alongside the PM's to define the project criteria - Scope, quality, budget and programme Support visualizing projects in 2D and/or 3D formats Research and make short lists of external designers and specialist suitable and relevant for each project

Design Management & Responsibilities - Store Development Strategy




Concept to Installation & Handover




Responsible for the Design Brief and make sure the Project brief is set up to be interpreted in an easy way and followed by the designers (internal or external) throughout the project Assist the PM Team with QS costing and the tendering process. Providing guidance on procurement and looking at areas of VE if required to achieve the project budget Engage with internal key stakeholders to ensure they are aware of project progress, against key milestones and initiate corrective action where required Chairing design meetings when required, writing agendas, reports and giving presentations. Provide communication on progress of projects by using project reporting tools, status reports etc. Ensuring designs are available to those who need them, at the appropriate time and approved by relevant parties prior to production and installation Conducting financial, technical and operational risk assessments and advising on risks, opportunities and potential hazards, to be logged on risk logs and project plans status reports Where requested, ensure you deliver savings on business projects, through better sourcing and negotiations with suppliers Managing processes relating to the project's design to ensure that everything is delivered to schedule and budget.

Design Management - International | Wholesale




Support and be the Design Custodian in any new or ad hoc projects as defined by the Project Lead Work with the PM to ensure all fabrication drawings and materials are approved prior to production and meet Company standards

Design Management - International | All other projects outside Piccadilly




Support and be the Design Custodian in any new or ad hoc projects as defined by the Project Lead Work with the PM to ensure all fabrication drawings and materials are approved prior to production and meet Company standards

Design Management - Small Works | Property Ad Hoc




Support and be the Design Custodian in any ad hoc projects as defined by the Chief Brand & Creative Officer & Head of Property Work with the PM to ensure all fabrication drawings and materials are approved prior to production and meet Company standards

Meeting Attendance




Weekly 1-1 with Senior Design Manager Weekly Store Development Team Meeting Weekly International Projects Meeting Weekly Small Works Meeting Weekly or Biweekly Design meetings with relevant external designers and internal stakeholders

Time Management
