Job Description

The Marketing and Communications Department manages and enhances Canford's brand and reputation among key audiences including current and prospective families, staff, the local community, and users of the school's commercial facilities. The team works closely with colleagues across the school, as well as with external partners, feeder schools, and service providers. It plays a key role in pupil recruitment alongside Admissions and collaborates with the Development Department on engagement and fundraising.



Digital marketing has become an essential part of our marketing and communications strategic priorities to support the delivery of the strategic vision for Canford. We are seeking a Junior Digital Content Creator to produce video and audio content--primarily for social media--that captures real-time life at Canford in an authentic way.



Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications and working within a team of five, this is a one-year fixed-term, term time role, with the potential to extend. This job is ideal for someone looking for their first job creating digital content in a workplace setting, with strong film and audio skills and a passion for social media. Experience working with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Google My Business is essential. Familiarity with Canford would be an advantage.



The position requires creativity, flexibility, initiative, and drive, and the Junior Digital Content Creator needs to be approachable, efficient, enthusiastic and hard-working. Strong inter-personal skills are essential as they will need to be able to interact confidently with staff and pupils across Canford, working closely with a team of pupils keen to be involved in film and other digital content creation, including the Sixth Form Marketing Pupil Leader.



Some evening and weekend work will be required in this role as Canford is a 7 day a week boarding school and activities take place across the school throughout every day in term time.



As a term time only role, it offers flexibility over holiday periods to pursue other work opportunities and interests.


KEY TASKS





Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Officer responsible for Digital:



Create a monthly, termly and annual content production plan for social media


Deliver the agreed content required including capturing content, editing and uploading Deliver broadcast media such as podcasts Keep abreast of latest social media trends and creatively offer ways that Canford could capitalise on these to maximise reach to specific target audiences Ensure brand consistency across all content Benchmark/use analytics/insights to review content and inform future posts While not essential, design experience using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to create flyers, adverts and other marketing materials would be useful as in quieter periods this support would be a benefit to the existing team skills

Knowledge / Experience




Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant digital qualification (E) Experience creating digital content for social media using various photography and film equipment (E) Experience using editing software including Canva (E) Experience creating broadcast and other audio media such as podcasts (E) Experience in social media content management across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Google My Business (E) Knowledge of digital algorithms and how to maximise for optimum, targeted engagement (E) Experience reviewing and analysing digital analytics to adjust strategies (E) Proven organisational and project management skills (E) Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) (D) Experience of work with design packages (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) (D) Direct knowledge/experience of Canford such as an alumni (D) A dynamic, creative thinker (E) A genuine passion for digital content creation and social media (E) High attention to detail (E) Excellent administrative and time management skills (E) Excellent IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly (E) A professional and highly organised approach (E) Able to work on own initiative and be proactive (E) The ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure (E) A team player (E) A keen interest in marketing and communications (E) An outgoing personality, confident to work independently (E) The ability to build up effective working relationships with all staff (E) Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality (E) Keen to be part of a successful, creative friendly team (E) A flexible work approach (E) Full Driving Licence (E) Lives locally (D) Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends (E)
