About Our Opportunity





We're seeking a

Junior Electrical Technician

with solid electrical skills, a hands-on mindset, and an interest in developing knowledge in control systems and PLCs.



This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has completed an industrial electrical apprenticeship and is now looking to grow their career in a practical, high-impact engineering environment.



You'll join our Central Engineering team and work alongside a Senior Engineer, gaining experience in the design, build, installation, and commissioning of control systems for heavy-duty recycling equipment. From wiring panels and supporting site installations to learning how to fault-find and modify PLC programs, you'll build valuable skills that support your progression into automation.



Whether you're working on shredders, conveyors, or complex electrical systems, your role will directly contribute to the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our operations.




What You Will Be Doing





In this hands-on and varied role, you'll support the electrical and automation work across our equipment and sites, while building skills in control systems and PLCs. Your responsibilities will include:


Assisting with the build and installation of electrical control systems for machinery such as shredders and conveyors Constructing, wiring, and testing control panels from schematics Supporting on-site electrical installations and commissioning across EMR sites Learning and assisting with PLC diagnostics, fault-finding, and programming (training provided) Reading and interpreting electrical drawings to aid in maintenance and troubleshooting Collaborating with engineers and site teams to deliver robust and practical electrical solutions



About You





You have strong electrical foundations, enjoy hands-on work, and are keen to develop new skills--especially in automation and controls. You're proactive, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in industrial environments. You're also a team player, willing to travel and eager to take ownership of your learning.



We're looking for someone with:


A completed apprenticeship in industrial electrical or a related trade Practical experience in heavy industrial or engineering environments A good understanding of industrial wiring, motors, sensors, and control panels A positive attitude with a desire to grow into PLC and control systems A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to EMR sites Strong communication skills and a clear focus on health and safety
