Junior

Generator Engineer

to join the team based in

Runcorn, UK

. This is a

full-time, permanent

position.

Responsibilities:

Perform basic maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and testing of diesel generator sets, switchgear, control systems, and associated equipment under supervision. Assist with Planned Preventative Maintenance and support senior engineers in diagnostic and remedial works. Participate in client site visits, gaining exposure to real-world operational challenges and best practices. Support the preparation of spares requirements for planned and upcoming projects. Engage in hands-on learning to develop technical competencies in generator engineering, including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Maintain awareness and compliance with Health & Safety standards in all work environments. Provide occasional out-of-hours and on-call service under supervision to develop problem-solving skills in critical scenarios.

Experience and Qualifications:

GCSEs in Maths, English, Science, or equivalent qualifications (Grade 9-4/A-C).
A strong interest in mechanical and electrical systems, with some relevant experience (customer-facing experience beneficial but not required). Basic understanding of diagnostic principles and technical report writing. Ability to work as part of a team and develop strong professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Willingness to travel and adapt to various work environments as required. A full UK driving license is preferred or the intention to obtain one within a specified time.
Due to the nature of the role there will be a requirement to obtain relevant security clearances, such as, obtaining and maintaining a DBS check, BPSS clearance and NPPV level 1, 2 and 3. This list is not exhaustive and other clearances my be required depending on our client.
