Job Title: Junior Interior Designer



Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm)



Salary: 25,500 - 28,000



Job Summary



To lead medium-scale interior design projects from concept to completion, particularly in care and hospitality environments. The role involves project management, technical drafting, client engagement, site coordination, and budget oversight.

Key Requirements:



1. Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture



A bachelor's degree (or higher) from a recognised institution in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field. The role may also suit recent graduates who demonstrate strong design sensibility, creativity, and a willingness to grow within a dynamic team.

2. 0-1 Years of Experience in the Care Home, Hospitality, or Residential Sector



Internship or academic project experience in any of the following sectors is acceptable: Care environments: with exposure to designing dementia-friendly or inclusive spaces. Hospitality: such as hotels, serviced apartments, or leisure interiors. Residential: particularly high-end or bespoke interior fit-outs. Candidates should have a basic understanding of client needs, spatial planning, and the technical and regulatory standards in these sectors.

3. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and MS Office



Strong working knowledge of[AG1] AutoCAD for technical drawings and space planning. SketchUp for 3D conceptualisation and client presentations. Photoshop and InDesign for design boards, visualisations, and mood boards. Familiarity with MS Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for documentation, scheduling, and communication. Bonus: familiarity with other design tools like Revit, V-Ray, or Enscape would be an asset.

4. Ability to Work on Multiple Projects Simultaneously and Meet Deadlines



Demonstrated ability (through academic or internship work) to manage multiple deliverables without compromising quality. Strong personal time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks. Able to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines in a fast-paced studio environment.

5. Ability to Coordinate with Site Managers and Technicians on Site



Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with: Site managers Contractors Technicians Willingness to visit job sites, take measurements, review progress, and assist with on-site troubleshooting. Ability to interpret construction drawings and basic technical specifications.

Key Skillsets and Qualities



1. Passion for Creating Functional, Inclusive, and Dementia-Friendly Spaces



Genuine interest in human-centred design that supports wellbeing, safety, and dignity, especially for vulnerable groups. Understanding of design strategies for dementia (e.g., colour contrast, signage, lighting, zoning).

2. Strong Material Knowledge and Understanding of Industry Building Standards



Familiarity with common finishes, textiles, fittings, and FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) for care and hospitality interiors. Awareness of fire regulations, slip ratings, acoustic standards, and sustainability practices. Understanding of BS8300, Building Regulations, and relevant care-sector design guidance (e.g., HBN 08-02 for dementia-friendly design).

3. Excellent Communication and Teamwork Skills



Comfortable collaborating with design directors, clients, suppliers, and external consultants. Open to feedback and thrives in a team-driven environment. Ability to contribute constructively during design discussions or client meetings.

4. Detail-Oriented with Strong Organisational Skills



Attention to detail when producing specifications, drawing packages, or mood boards. Ability to maintain clear digital file management and design documentation. Reliable and proactive, with a methodical approach to design process.
