Job Role - Junior Designer



Lumsden is an award-winning design studio creating experiences and environments for some of the world's best-loved brands, museums and visitor attractions. We work internationally across experiential flagship retail, hospitality and destination projects -- delivering unique, one-off spaces from concept through to completion.

We're looking for a

Junior Designer

to join our team in

Clerkenwell

. This is an opportunity for someone curious, motivated and early in their career to work as part of a dynamic and collaborative studio, supporting the design and delivery of ambitious projects for high-profile clients. You'll contribute across key stages of the process -- from early concepts and spatial planning through to presentations, technical design and on-site delivery.

You'll gain hands-on experience, strengthen your core design skills, and develop the confidence to work across varied, fast-moving projects in a team known for a thoughtful, story-led approach and carefully crafted detail.

International destinations and placemaking projects

What you will do:



As a Junior Designer at Lumsden, you'll have the opportunity to:

Join our collaborative design studio and work across a wide range of live projects, from museums and cultural destinations to retail, hospitality and visitor attractions.

Work closely with experienced designers and directors, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of innovative environments from early stages through to completion.

Collaborate directly with our diverse client teams, gaining exposure to how major brands and institutions shape and deliver world-class visitor experiences.

Be involved in the full design process, from research and creative exploration through to client presentations, design development and production.

Support concept design, spatial planning, material and furniture sourcing, and the production of schematic and technical drawing packages.

Attend site visits and help see projects through to delivery -- gaining real experience coordinating with clients, contractors and suppliers, and seeing behind the scenes of exciting destination environments.

Your Qualifications:



Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related spatial design course.

A passion for experiential design, narrative environments, set/theatre design, or similar.

Strong hand sketching skills

Graduate-level or up to 2 years' experience (including placements/internships), ideally within experiential, hospitality, retail, exhibition, narrative or themed environments

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino (or similar 2D/3D software)

Working knowledge of rendering tools such as Enscape, V-Ray (or similar)

Confidence using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Curious, proactive and collaborative - someone who enjoys sharing ideas and working as part of a team

Comfortable in a fast-paced, energetic studio environment, and excited by the pace of live projects

Strong conceptual and visual thinker, with a great eye for detail and storytelling through space

Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing (Fluent English essential; other languages a plus)

Highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks, deadlines and project stages

A genuine passion for culture, museums, design and visitor attractions, and how people experience spaces and connect with each other

Salary & Terms:



Salary dependent on experience.
