We are recruiting for a

Junior Materials Developer

, to help with all stages of the materials development process, from initial concept to sourcing and development, and bulk quality management.



You will assist in developing new fabrics and materials to meet seasonal fabric and colour briefs, while supporting SMS & bulk quality and colour continuity processes. Additionally, you will provide support to the product development teams, including product developers, garment technologists, and designers.

Key Responsibilities of Junior Materials Developer (including but not limited to):



Assist in all stages of the materials development process, from initial concept to sourcing, development, and bulk quality management. Research the latest textile and outdoor product trends and work with the Senior Materials Developer and Senior Product Manager to present new fabric and product ideas to the wider product team. Help develop new fabrics and materials to meet seasonal fabric and colour briefs while assisting in bulk quality and colour continuity processes. Work with the Senior Materials Developer to ensure new developments are signed off and commercialized to agreed performance and standards, including performance specifications, RSL standards, compliance certifications, and commercial terms. Help the Design and Materials teams deliver materials that match the seasonal colour palette by working with mills worldwide through the lab dip process. Aid in maintaining a materials database, ensuring performance specifications, commercial information, and compliance documentation are up to date. Assist in testing new fabric concepts and developments using standard textile lab tests and help implement wider wearer and field-testing programs. Handle the day-to-day lab dipping process, working with the Design team to deliver fabrics that meet seasonal colour requirements, highlighting issues and helping to provide solutions to problem colours. Support the Materials team in assessing and approving bulk production fabrics to ensure performance and colour standards are maintained. Champion fabric performance and help drive performance and testing standards with the Senior Materials Developer, including collecting and maintaining fabric test report. Manage the fabric library and storage.

Degree or equivalent in a textile-related subject, or proven industry experience Have strong IT skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and related programmes An understanding of the textile dyeing process and experience in colour management Strong communication and organisational skills Show independent working and problem solving alongside being a team player Can do attitude; ability to understand and pick up protocol quickly

Desirable



An interest in the outdoors and an understanding of the types of activities Experience working with global mills and understanding of the textile sourcing and development process
