About the Role
We are seeking a Graduate or Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Products division, working alongside an experienced team developing the next generation of onsite safety and monitoring equipment deployed in extreme environments.
This is an exciting opportunity to begin your engineering career in a technically challenging and innovative environment. You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, while learning how to apply sound engineering principles to real-world problems.
You will be supported by senior engineers but encouraged to contribute ideas, develop your technical skills, and grow into a role where you can take ownership of design tasks and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with design activities including requirements capture, CAD modelling, and tolerance analysis.
Support prototype assembly and performance validation under guidance.
Contribute to qualification testing for environmental and field compliance.
Help maintain BOMs, QA records, and specifications in line with QMS processes.
Learn and apply industry standards and internal procedures.
Support design improvements based on feedback from production and field performance.
Participate in structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis with senior engineers.
Collaborate with electronics, software, production, and sales teams on integrated projects.
Contribute to design reviews and team discussions, developing confidence in presenting technical ideas.
Required Skills
A 2:1 or higher BEng/MEng degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Aeronautical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (preferably Autodesk Inventor).
Understanding of basic engineering calculations (mechanical strength, thermal performance, pressure containment).
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently on tasks once trained.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Desired Skills (Training will be provided)
Awareness of design for manufacture (DfM) and design for assembly (DfA).
Exposure to FEA or CFD analysis during academic projects.
Hands-on prototyping, workshop, or lab experience.
Interest in energy, automotive, or defence sectors (not essential).
Why Join Us?
This role offers the chance to develop your career in mechanical engineering within a supportive environment. You'll gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, structured training, and mentorship from senior engineers, while contributing to products that operate in some of the most demanding environments in the energy sector.
