Job Description

Plowden Facilities is the administration, facilities and management organisation for Parklane Plowden Chambers, a leading Barristers' Chambers in Leeds and Newcastle, offering the services of Barristers to clients throughout the UK in commercial and personal legal cases.

We are looking to recruit a highly organised, disciplined, and confident Junior Practice Administrator to support our team in Leeds helping to administer cases on behalf of the Barristers as well as undertake routine administration and diary management.

In this developmental role, you will be supported to become highly competent as a Barristers' Practice Administrator, interacting with a wide range of people within the legal field.

Junior Practice Administrator - Leeds City Centre - 37.5 hours per week - permanent 25k pa



This role would ideally suit a recent Graduate or 'A' Level student who has an interest in the law and wants to build a career within the legal administration profession, whilst working for a highly regarded, friendly and well-respected Barristers Chambers.

Please Note: This is not a role that involves conducting advisory or advocacy services, nor does it provide a career route to becoming a Barrister.



About the role



Active monitoring of emails to ensure that queries or questions are resolved quickly and in a professional manner Proactively raising potential or actual problems and addressing them in an appropriate manner Ensuring that all daily or routine administration tasks are completed fully and on time

Fee management



Responding in a timely manner to minor fee enquiries Supporting the administration for billing of lower level work

Case management



Accurately logging briefs / instructions / correspondence in the Lex system to ensure it is up to date daily Contact Members and clients and chasing papers that are required for cases Administering the allocation of cases for Members ensuring the diary is accurate and up to date Process changes to dates and times for cases in a timely manner

Administration



Daily checking of court lists If requested ensuring briefs and instructions are printed and available in good time Accurate and timely forwarding of emails and passing on messages as needed To assist with incoming telephone calls, answering queries wherever possible and distributing calls accordingly Maintaining the printing folder Replenish photocopiers and printers with paper and toner when in the office Timely opening of the DX / post and ensuring it is distributed Booking out and shredding of briefs and instructions Accurate recording and administration of Conditional Fee Agreements Organising, collation and preparation of e-bundles in a timely manner Accurately taking receipt of instructions or briefs and passing them on to the Clerks in a timely manner Taking documents to court as and when required Administer and support the booking of conference and meeting rooms Provide other administrative support as requested and directed

Ability to prioritise and to work to deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to appropriately deal with clients, barristers and colleagues in a professional manner Able to understand complex information Excellent telephone manner and accurate written communication skills Attention to detail and accuracy in work completed Disciplined and methodical in how work is done Organised and structured Able to manage a number of tasks at the same time Able to solve problems using logic and reason Confident user of MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel Able to make decisions based on reasoning Able to work independently when needed
