Job Purpose:
To support the Pre-Construction and Commercial teams in managing contractual and procurement processes during the early stages of commercial interior fit-out projects. This junior-level role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience and build a career in contract and commercial management within a fast-paced design and build environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing, reviewing, and tracking pre-construction contracts, consultant agreements, and subcontractor packages.
Support the tendering process, including issuing enquiries, analysing subcontractor quotations, and preparing comparison schedules.
Help draft and collate scopes of works and appendices for subcontract orders and consultant appointments.
Assist with the review of project documentation including drawings, specifications, and programmes to ensure commercial and contractual alignment.
Monitor key deliverables and deadlines during the pre-construction phase to ensure timely handover to the delivery team.
Work with internal teams (design, commercial, project management) to ensure smooth coordination of pre-start activities.
Attend pre-start meetings and take minutes/actions, ensuring follow-up and document control.
Maintain accurate project files and assist in document management, using internal systems and software.
Gain exposure to contract forms (e.g., JCT D&B, consultant appointments) and assist in negotiating standard amendments under supervision.
Support with internal reporting, commercial analysis, and administrative tasks as required
Required Skills and Experience:
Interest or some prior experience (e.g., internship, work placement) in commercial interior fit-out or construction environments is desirable.
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
Basic understanding of fit-out processes and commercial procurement is advantageous.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with project software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam) is a bonus.
