Junior R&D Technical Consultant - Civil & Construction
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: 30,000-35,000 + benefits
Are you a recent Civil or Structural Engineering graduate who enjoys problem-solving, technical writing, and uncovering how innovation happens?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist consultancy that helps some of the UK's most innovative construction and engineering businesses secure funding for their research and development projects. You'll work at the intersection of engineering and finance - translating technical advancements into clear, structured reports that demonstrate genuine R&D activity to HMRC.
No prior experience in R&D tax is required - full training and mentorship are provided. What matters most is your curiosity, analytical mindset, and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
What You'll Do

  • Support senior consultants in preparing detailed, compliant R&D technical reports.
  • Attend client meetings (virtually or in person) with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand their innovative work.
  • Analyse civil, structural, and construction projects to identify technical challenges and advancements.
  • Help document findings in a structured and logical way that meets HMRC's requirements.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of the technical reporting process.
What We're Looking For
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A genuine interest in innovation and how technology is changing the built environment.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills.
  • Confidence engaging with clients and discussing technical topics.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to work.
