Mr White's English Chophouse at the New Road Hotel is looking for a Junior Chef!
Mr White's English Chophouse in Whitechapel is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join a small team of dedicated chefs within our well-established kitchen brigade. Working hours are mainly afternoons and evenings, with sociable finishes around 11 pm, including weekends, but also some breakfast shifts and therefore split shift per week.
Conveniently located next to Whitechapel Station in Zone 2, on the Elizabeth Line, London Overground and District Line, the restaurant offers an easy commute, especially for those living in East London, avoiding Zone 1 travel.
As, you will take an active role in the production and service of high-quality dishes while leading a small brigade in our open theatre kitchen. This is a hands-on position, suited to someone confident in leading from the front.

Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and supervising kitchen staff
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality
Supervise food production to meet health and safety standards and minimise waste
Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service during service hours
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and ensure team cohesion
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment in compliance with hygiene regulations
Support menu planning and contribute creative ideas for new dishes
Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to at all times during food handling and preparation
Qualifications
Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
Extensive experience in food production, cooking, and food preparation
Strong team management skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hospitality settings
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
Demonstrated leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
Passion for culinary arts with a keen eye for detail in presentation and taste
