We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and hospitality, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
Located in the heart of Helensburgh, Riva is a much-loved restaurant offering high-quality food, warm hospitality, and a modern twist on classic favourites. Accommodation can be provided.
Duties
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen.
Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient food preparation and cooking.
Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned.
Handle any customer complaints or feedback regarding food quality or service.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
Strong culinary skills with a thorough understanding of food preparation techniques.
Ability to work on your own during quieter days.
Excellent leadership abilities with experience supervising kitchen staff.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Highly organised with strong financial and cost control skills
Positive, energetic, and committed to delivering memorable guest experiences
Holder of relevant food hygiene and safety certifications
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
