We are seeking a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This role is due to start on completion of a major refurbishment, including a new custom built kitchen.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and a keen understanding of food safety and production. As a Junior Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the Sous Chef & Head Chef with daily operations, ensuring that our restaurant maintains the highest standards of food quality and service. This position requires excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to supervise kitchen staff effectively.
Duties
Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities.
Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to food safety standards and proper cooking techniques.
Help create innovative menu items that reflect current culinary trends while maintaining the restaurant's unique identity.
Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes served.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods.
Experience
Proven experience as a Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques.
Experience in supervising kitchen teams and managing food production processes.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
Excellent communication skills, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
A passion for cooking and an eagerness to learn new skills within the culinary field.
