Junior Systems Developer

Two positions are available, both working 37.5 hours per week. One permanent and one fixed-term contract for 2 years, please specify in your supporting information which role(s) you are applying for.

Job Summary




This role would suit a recent graduate with C# .Net programming experience, as we will provide full training in the technologies, as well as ongoing professional development.


The successful Developer will be responsible for the analysis, design and development of new and existing applications, and support of existing ones. You'll have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and creatively when resolving problems. The candidate must have a passion for innovation and a can-do attitude to creating new software systems.


The role will require development of bespoke systems and solutions using the .NET technologies available including web-based applications to support the Trust and its partner organisations. It will have a strong emphasis on integration between systems to support the ever increasing need to combine data from different Clinical and Staff based systems through a reduced number of interfaces.

Main duties of the job



Designing, developing and maintaining our software systems and databases, covering all stages of the software development lifecycle. Assisting colleagues in the preparation of requirements and technical specifications, and to produce and maintain documentation to accepted professional standards. Performing research and development in the latest tools, technologies and platforms to support NHSBT. Facilitating the integration of new solutions with our existing systems. Keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices to support the Team Leader and other Systems Developers.

About You



Qualifications and Training



Degree in computer science or related discipline Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Experience and Knowledge



Experience of OOD NET and C# Azure Fundamentals. Webservices SOAP Webservices - REST HTML, CSS JavaScript o High level of verbal and written communication skills Proficient in writing and documentation skills. Awareness of Software Development Lifecycle. Awareness of working with Agile tools and methods Knowledge of IT legislation, including General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Computer Misuse Act and Freedom of Information Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

A starting salary of 31,049 - 37,796 per annum. NHSBT promotes flexible working opportunities where the role will allow. 27 days annual leave (pro rata for part-time) plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 29 days after 5 years' service and to 33 days after 10 years.
