McGeoch Technology Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a
Junior Test Engineer
to join our team at our production, assembly and test facility in Birmingham City Centre. We design, manufacture, and repair a range of products and services for defence and industrial markets, including ATEX Lighting, Electrical Distribution, Instrumentation and Control solutions.

The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their engineering career who has a keen interest in electrical/electronic systems and product testing. As a Junior Test Engineer, you will support the testing of products and systems to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance standards. Full training and mentoring will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with testing products to ensure they function correctly and meet customer requirements
Carry out routine test procedures under supervision (e.g. performance and functional testing)
Help set up test equipment, wiring, and connections
Support fault-finding and problem diagnosis activities
Record results, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to test reports
Follow safe working practices for electrical applications at all times
Learn and develop skills in product investigation and customer validation testing
About You
A qualification in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering (or currently working towards one) or a keen interest in
Basic understanding of electrical principles (voltage, current, circuits)
Ability to read and interpret simple circuit diagrams (training provided for more complex systems)
Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices
Good IT skills, including MS Office
Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude
Desirable (not essential):
Familiarity with low voltage systems, sensors, or test equipment
Knowledge of LabView or similar tools
