Cheadle, Greater Manchester.

The role will be worked on a full time schedule from office or negotiable

You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of

28,050 - 37,950

per

annum depending on experience.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.


As Junior Website Developer, the successful candidate will play an integral part of a successful, growing team that supports and develops new features for the family of Human Appeal regional websites. Tasks include frontend and backend coding of new features, helping guide UX and wireframe designs, dev-ops, improving testing through automation and providing, content management support and monthly admin/maintenance tasks. All with a view to keeping Human Appeals innovative and ever-changing family of websites looking and performing great, in order to retain the engagement of current donors, acquire new donors, and ultimately increase Human Appeals online revenue year-on-year.

Key duties and responsibilities of the

Junior Website Developer:

Successfully;


Write well-designed, testable and efficient code by following quality guidelines set out by quality assurance (QA) Ensure the website release process is followed when releasing to each website Support with the delivery of website frontend and backend code to meet Human Appeals requirement for new features, modules Provide input and review at the design and wireframe stage to help guide new features Work with a team of developers to assist the ongoing evolution of Human Appeals family of website using the latest LTS version of Umbraco along with the latest software development infrastructure and methods Assist with the testing of new developments and features on the UAT environment every month to support the Agile release structure Support the Communications Department on a monthly basis with the passing of performance, speed, accessibility, quality assurance, SEO and security tests Help provide support to Human Appeals suite of websites daily, assessing critical and high value tickets within a 1 2 hour period and low tickets within a 24 hour period, in line with our website support process flow Ensure the Website Development Asana project management tool is updated on a daily basis Assist the lead developers with the monthly structural on and off page SEO work in collaboration with the Communications Team.

What were looking for in our Junior Website Developer:

Education:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, boot camp graduate, or self-taught programmer with relevant experience and a proven track record

Experience:

At least 1 years commercial work experience, with a portfolio of projects and code Samples to demonstrate this. Demonstrable front-end development experience

Skills:

MS Office Suite CMS support / development experience (Umbraco preferred but not essential) Extensive experience in HTML5/CSS (SASS) hand-coding skills Extensive experience in developing and supporting responsive design websites. Good working knowledge of JavaScript & jQuery Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML) (preferred, not essential) Some knowledge of best SEO practices within web development Experience with version control e.g. Github, Bitbucket An understanding of how to deliver pixel-perfect front-end code based on UX wireframes and creative concepts that work responsively across mobile, tablet and desktop devices Experience delivering back-end development logic C# or other object-orientated language (preferred, not essential)

Languages:

Fluent English is essential. Additional Languages e.g. Arabic, French are desirable Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector This would be an ideal role for an experienced Junior Website Developer looking to make a difference in a rewarding role within the Charity Sector!

Safeguarding bright futures for more than 22,000 vulnerable orphans in 9 countries. Our one-to-one sponsorship programme has a built-in school attendance requirement while covering the cost of food, housing, medical care, and learning materials. Pioneering technologically innovative infrastructure projects in Pakistan, like designing and building a 25-km embankment on the Chenab River in Pakistan. Protecting an entire community from being washed away, the embankment has held back the floods each year, including Pakistans worst flooding in a decade during its last monsoon season.
