Job Description

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, dedicated individual to join our permanent team here at Amberlea Country Kennels and Cattery.

The role available is a live in position, within a purpose built 1 bedroom accommodation on site. Out of hours duties will be shared with the manager who also lives on site in another accommodation. This role requires a high level of dedication to the job and to the business. So will not suit somebody who wants to be out all the time.

Duties will include cleaning dog and cat pens to a high standard, walking and interacting with dogs, playing and interacting with cats, monitoring behaviour and health of all animals, giving out feeds, administering medication, signing pets in and out and communicating with customers, answering phones and taking bookings, and general maintenance of the property as needed.

At least 2 years experience of working with dogs and cats within a professional environment is essential. Caring for your own pets does not count as relevant experience. You must be able to confidently handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments. You must be passionate about working with animals, and be able to work in a safe manner both as part of a team and as an individual.

Rate of pay will be disclosed up on a job offer, and will depend on age and experience. Rent for the accommodation will be taken out of your wages every pay run. You will begin work on a 6 month probationary period.

Hours vary from 20 to 40 per week depending on the time of year, and the usual working day runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm, although hours outside of these will be required, as part of the live in duties. This is not a Monday to Friday job, and weekend work will be the norm, as well as working over Bank Holidays and Christmas/New Year.

This is a physically demanding job in all weathers, so you must have a good level of fitness, and be able to be on the go all day.
