Job Overview:


Join our small, friendly team as a Kennel Assistant where you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to the dogs who board with us. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the kennels, ensuring the well-being and comfort of the animals under our care.

You will be required to work shifts spread over 7 days, as per our rota, and this is a full-time position at 38 hours per week. We pay at or above the National Living Wage.

Responsibilities:


To keep the kennels' cleanliness and tidiness to a high standard by cleaning and poo picking the kennels twice a day and deep cleaning each kennel when dogs leave.

Being responsible for the upkeep and safety of the dogs whilst boarding at the kennels.

To communicate all records concerning the animals within your team and to the Kennels Supervisor.

To report any maintenance requirements internally, to the Maintenance Manager or the Kennels Supervisor.

To deliver a consistent and positive experience to both animals and their owners.

To always maintain professionalism when dealing with the business owners, colleagues, dog owners and visitors.

To fill in daily check sheets and records to maintain effective communication amongst your team.

To bath boarding dogs before they are due to leave the kennels, where it has been requested by the owner.

To liaise with the Supervisor and business owner about the welfare and progress of the dogs on site.

To occasionally take dogs to the vets when needed and provide a full debrief on return.

To exercise all dogs regularly in the on-site exercise paddocks.

To take part in a deep clean of the kennels when required.

To administer medicines to the dogs when required and to record all doses on the medication sheets.

To feed all dogs and communicate any problems with feeding to the Kennels Supervisor.

To wash bedding and towels daily or when required for instance after bathing.

To ensure water bowls are always full and always clean to maintain levels of hygiene.

Skills:


- Strong customer service skills to interact with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner.

- Strong communication skills are needed in this role.
- Experience in animal care or a genuine passion for working with animals.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team plus on your own initiative.
- Canine first aid certification is a plus.
