Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, providing essential support in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our furry guests. This role involves direct interaction with animals and their owners, ensuring that all pets receive the highest standard of care during their stay.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, grooming, and exercising pets. Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas by performing regular cleaning duties. Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to management. Assist with the check-in and check-out process for pet owners, providing excellent customer service. Handle heavy lifting when moving animals or cleaning equipment as necessary. Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for both animals and staff.

Skills

Previous experience in veterinary settings or animal care is highly desirable. Strong understanding of animal behaviour and needs. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with animal care. Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare. Confident driving a large transit van Knowledge of the East Lothian is preferred, not required
