We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Kennel Hand to join our vibrant animal care team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to our furry residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Your energetic approach will help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment where animals feel secure and loved. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals, utilizing your skills in handling, grooming, and basic training while supporting the overall operations of our facility.

Duties

Assist with daily cleaning and sanitation of kennels, cages, and to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety. Provide attentive dog handling, including feeding, walking, and monitoring behaviour to ensure each animal's needs are met. Support veterinary staff with animal restraint during examinations or treatments, ensuring safety for both animals and team members. Perform pet grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep animals comfortable and presentable. Engage in pet sitting duties by supervising animals during their stay, offering companionship and reassurance. Assist with basic dog training exercises to promote good behaviour and socialization skills. Monitor animal health and behaviour; report any concerns or abnormalities to veterinary professionals promptly. Support customer service efforts by communicating effectively with pet owners about their animals' care routines and needs. Handle heavy lifting when necessary for moving supplies or assisting with larger animals safely. Maintain detailed records of animal care activities, treatments, and observations to ensure continuity of care.

Experience

Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, or similar environment is highly preferred. Proven ability in animal handling and restraint techniques ensures safe interactions with diverse species and temperaments. Excellent customer service skills are essential for engaging positively with pet owners and visitors. Physical stamina for performing heavy lifting tasks and standing for extended periods is required to support busy daily operations.
