About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Team Leader to provide operational, administrative and strategic support within our kennels. This is

not a hands-on dog handling role

. Kennel hands will continue to manage daily dog care, while this role focuses on staff leadership, compliance, welfare oversight and acting as the key link between kennel operations and the Trustee board.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and support kennel staff, including rotas, holidays, onboarding, performance management and training compliance. Oversee operational standards, health & safety compliance, site maintenance and preparation for inspections. Maintain positive relationships with landlords and neighbours. Coordinate kennel-related fundraising needs (e.g. vet fees, transport, food, training and supplies) in collaboration with Trustees. Manage dog-related administration, including behavioural assessments, vet scheduling, medical records and adoptability grading. Book adopter meet & greets and ensure accurate feedback and records are maintained. Provide clear, regular updates and reporting to Trustees, escalating risks or concerns appropriately.

Training Provided


Full training will be given on internal systems, disclosures, ordering processes and homecheck/surrender procedures (awareness level).

About You



Strong background in kennel operations or animal welfare management Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills Confident people manager with a calm, structured approach Good understanding of dog behaviour and rehoming processes (assessment-based) Able to work independently while maintaining clear communication with Trustees
This role is ideal for someone looking to step into a leadership position within animal welfare, focusing on operational excellence and team support rather than hands-on dog handling.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
