About the role
You will manage a caseload of students, providing
holistic, specialist support
that addresses personal, social, emotional and learning-related needs. Working closely with curriculum teams, Student Services and external agencies, you will help students to remain engaged, build resilience and develop the skills they need for education, employment and life beyond college.
This role requires someone who is proactive, empathetic and confident in building positive relationships with students and colleagues alike.
Key responsibilities
Provide tailored pastoral and learning support to students with SEND and health needs
Act as a key point of contact for students, families and internal teams
Support student retention, attendance, punctuality and achievement
Liaise with counselling services, welfare teams and external agencies
Work closely with teaching staff to identify concerns and support progression
Contribute to intervention programmes and personalised learning support
Support college events such as open evenings, taster days and parents' evenings
Deliver and contribute to staff training where appropriate
Coordinate ALS student surveys and support data collection
Maintain accurate records and actively engage in CPD

Essential:
Experience of working with young people with SEND
Welfare, pastoral and/or safeguarding experience
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust
Excellent communication and IT skills
Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy
Desirable:
Specialist knowledge in a relevant SEND area
Experience supporting students with SpLD and/or health needs
